Whenever I write a blog, I ask myself what I can teach that is new. What can I give people that may drive them to think a little deeper, to love a little more, and to be motivated to follow God closer? I am always asking what there is I can do that will place me on the cutting edge so to speak.
I have spent an entire week wondering what to write that may impact your life. What can I say that will move you into action? What can I do in order to inspire you to forgive your enemies? Is there something I can show you that will make you commit your life to Jesus with a depth that you have yet to fathom?
In the middle of my efforts of trying to break new ground, I reached a conclusion that shook my world. I am in the way. I can not, on my own, give anyone anything that has to do with God. I can only give what has been given to me. I am nothing more than a messenger. I am a mouthpiece. For me to think that I am any more than a vessel to be used by God is placing myself on a pedestal. In my efforts to give you something, I have been humbled. I have been brought to my knees. I have realized that on my own I can do nothing, but with God’s strength, wisdom, and leadership I can do greater things that I have imagined. Isaiah 55:9 "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
There is nothing I can say or do that will ever be greater than what God leads me to do. The real question is; will I go where God calls me to go, do what He asks me to do, and have complete faith and trust even when it seems that the world around me is falling apart.
This verse has been beating on me, and speaking to me all week long.
Matthew 36-40 "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" 37Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'[b] 38This is the first and greatest commandment. 39And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'[c] 40All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."
Love the Lord, love God, love Jesus with all of your heart. Not some of it. Jesus is telling us to make a committed move towards Him. We are to make a conscious decision that puts God on the pedestal of our life. The world does not revolve around us, even when we think we have a great deal to offer.
All 10 of the Commandments Moses was given gravitates around loving God with our every being.
…….and if we will humble ourselves to give our all to Jesus, loving our neighbor will come with ease. Loving those we despise will change the world. Loving those that hate us will show God in ways greater than any word you can speak.
In order for me to give you anything, I have to first realize that I can only give you Jesus. The only way I can give you Jesus is to remove me and place God at the top of my life. Will you surrender your life as I surrender mine?
