Where is Your Faith

It's true, things are ugly. The economy is in a nasty downward spiral. I don't completely understand how things have gotten to the place they are now. It's almost as if America woke up out of a coma only to see a world of change. One day things were fine and fairly stable, and the next day we are fighting for our lives.

There are more people out of work and filing for unemployment today than there has been within my lifetime. Home forclosures are at an all time high. People are not spending money, because they have no money, and this is killing an economy that is already on life supoport. The government is talking about nationalization of failing banks (which is another mystery to me; if bank executives can't fingure out how to repair their problem, what makes elected officials think they can). Auto companies that are an icon to our Country are crashing. I could go on, but there's no need.

I wish I had an answer, a miracle, or at the very least, a suggestion. Sadly, I don't. I am walking in the same shoes as many Americans at the moment. However, I do have hope.

Matthew 6:25-34
25 "This is why I tell you: Don't worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Isn't life more than food and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the sky: they don't sow or reap or gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren't you worth more than they? 27 Can any of you add a single cubit to his height by worrying? 28 And why do you worry about clothes? Learn how the wildflowers of the field grow: they don't labor or spin thread. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was adorned like one of these! 30 If that's how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and thrown into the furnace tomorrow, won't He do much more for you—you of little faith? 31 So don't worry, saying, 'What will we eat?' or 'What will we drink?' or 'What will we wear?' 32 For the idolaters eagerly seek all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you. 34 Therefore don't worry about tomorrow, because tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

God promises not to leave or forsake His children. When we worry, and bath ourselves in fear, we doubt God. The God we serve is a covenent God. He is a God of promises.

I understand that it's hard to follow and have faith when it seems that all of your faith is being tested. Let me ask you; what is faith without a fearful situation? When things are tough, the depth of your faith is seen. The belief you have in God is seen when you decide to lean on Him in life's storms.

We also have to look towards the faith of those that have endured hardships before us. There are many of people around us that lived, and survived the "Great Depression". These people were able to see an economy collapse. They lived a very minimal life in terms of finances, possessions, and nutrition. These same people over came the poorest time in America's history at this time. They not only survived, but they thrived, and America became the leading economical force in the world for close to a century.

Many, if not most of these people that survived the "Great Depression" made it through with the help of Christ. They trusted God in order to overcome what seemed to be a hopeless and helpless situation.
